Sega Pulls Back From Blockchain Gaming
Sega, one of the strongest advocates for GameFi and blockchain gaming, is withdrawing from the sector. Co-Chief Operating Officer Shuji Utsumi said that they will withhold their biggest franchises from third-party blockchain gaming projects in order to avoid devaluing their content. They are also shelving plans for developing their own blockchain-based games – at least for now. Utsumi was non-committal about using Web3 technology, saying that they are looking into whether this technology would take off in the industry.
Bitfinex Recovers More Stolen Assets
Bitfinex announced that it received $312,219.71 in cash and 6.917 BCH from the United States Department of Homeland Security (DHS). These amounts will be used to redeem Bitfinex-issued Recovery Right Tokens (RRTs), however due to there being 30 million RRTs currently in circulation, it won’t be enough to redeem them all. Chief Technology Officer Paolo Ardoino said that they hope to recover as much stolen bitcoin as possible and redistribute it amongst holders of tokens issued after the 2016 hack.
